St. Jude Basketball is open to all St. Jude School Students and Parishioners in 4th through 12th grade that wish to play basketball. No one is cut from the program. Basketball athletes are divided into grade specific teams. Teams travel and play within the region, with varying levels of competition depending on the age and division. The goal of our younger teams is to teach the fundamentals of the game in a fun, friendly and inclusive manner, where all contributions are recognized and celebrated. As the children progress towards varsity, there is a bit more focus on being a competitive team in the region, while still allowing for ample playing time and learning for the athletes.
The focus of 4th Grade basketball is teaching the game to new players. Teams will be divided evenly, and equal playing time is enforced by the league. It's a great way for the kids to get introduced to the sport!
Evaluations will be held to form a North/South Division teams. Equal playing time is enforced by the league, pressing is only allowed in the final 2 minutes of the game, and mercy rules are enforces once team holds a 10 point lead.
Evaluations will be held to form a South Division team, and then equal North Division team(s). There are no playing time or pressing rules for the South Division, and standings are kept. The North Division encourages fair playing time, and limits pressing to the last 2 minutes of the first half, and the fourth quarter. Mercy rules are enforces once a team holds a 15 point lead.
St. Jude provides an opportunity for parishioners to continue to play CYO basketball through high school. Teams are divided into 9th-10th and 11th-12th grade teams, and compete within the region.
Registration for basketball is now open!
Team sites are restricted to the players and their guardians.
